WPC Cladding vs ASA Cladding: Choosing an Exterior Finish

Exterior cladding has to do two jobs at once: look like timber and survive weather that timber struggles with. Two products handle that in different ways — co-extrusion WPC cladding and ASA cladding. Both sit in our WPC cladding range.

Co-extrusion WPC cladding

Co-extrusion means the composite core is wrapped in a protective outer layer during manufacture. That shell is what faces the weather, so the board resists moisture, UV and general wear better than an unwrapped composite.

Panels are 219 mm wide and available in 2.9 m or 4 m lengths, in eight finishes: Teak, Coffee, White, Rosewood, Black, Grey, and two half-covered options in Antique and Teak. The half-covered profiles give a deeper shadow line, which reads well across a long wall.

ASA cladding

ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate) is the same polymer family used for outdoor automotive trim, chosen for colour stability in strong sun. Panels are 219 mm wide and 26 mm thick, again in 2.9 m and 4 m lengths, in Black, American Oak, Teak and Brown.

ASA panels use a concealed fixing system, so the finished wall has no visible screw heads — worth having where the cladding is at eye level, such as an entry wall or an alfresco area.

Planning your quantities

At 219 mm cover width, a 6 metre wall needs roughly 28 boards per 6 metres of height coverage — but openings, corners and trims change that quickly. Send us the wall dimensions with your quote request and we will work the numbers out, including trims and fixings.

Cladding is often paired with WPC battens for screens and privacy sections, so the same look carries across the whole exterior.
